Specialized's Sonomas are great do-it-all cycling shoes. Their sneaker styling and triple Velcro closures provide awesome comfort for cruising to the office, the coffee shop, attending Spinning class and just about any other activity. Plus, the souls sport stiff internal plates for pedaling efficiency and protection while the rubber outsoles offer excellent traction for walking. These shoes also accept recessed cleats for use with clipless pedals (sold separately).

Specialized Body GeometryAs incredible as the human foot is, the fact remains that it is highly adapted to walking, not riding. Thankfully, the bicycling wizards at Specialized have you covered with their Body Geometry technology. They took a whole new approach to cycling footwear and engineered each facet of their shoes to enhance comfort, mitigate overuse injuries and boost on-the-bike power, all things that every rider, from the weekend warrior to the seasoned pro, can appreciate.

Click to enlarge!Although every foot is unique, most individuals have feet that cant towards the outside (meaning the outer part of the foot falls lower than the inside). If left uncorrected, this could cause the knee to collapse inwards while riding, which is both inefficient and a common cause of injury. To address that issue, all Specialized Body Geometry shoes feature a built-in varus wedge that counters your natural cant for perfect alignment and a more powerful pedal stroke. Plus, you can get additional wedges (sold separately) for your shoes if your feet cant more or less than the average person's.

Click to enlarge!Additionally, Specialized's Body Geometry insoles feature a metatarsal button that keeps unwanted numbness and hotspots at bay by supporting the bones of the forefoot to prevent crushed nerves and arteries. And for even more comfort and efficiency, the insoles boast longitudinal arch support to stop unwanted flex that robs power and causes stress.

Peruse our full selection of Specialized's Body Geometry shoes and have one of our fit experts set you up with the perfect pair!

In order to mount your pedal cleats to your shoes, they must have matching bolt patterns (pedals come with cleats, shoes come without). There are three configurations (diagram) used on cycling shoes, SPD-R, Look/SPD-SL and SPD. Road shoes feature one, two or even all three of these. Mountain-bike shoes usually use the SPD pattern. If you're unsure what bolt pattern your equipment uses, please contact us. We're here to help!

    Comments:

I picked these up as my first clip-in shoes to go with some Shimano M520 pedals. Having not used clips in more than 15 years, I hadn't seen how the technology has advanced. This combination of shoe / pedal works great for my everyday rides and commuting. The recessed clip allows me to walk normally when off the bike (the clips do rub the ground a little, but not much). I'm going to order another pair in case they are no longer available when my current pair wears out.

I bike for fitness (bad knees) & on a paved rail-to-trail. These fit great from the time I put them on in the store. Love the recessed cleat. Very comfortable to walk in. And these shooes look great!

      Comments:

I've had these shoes for a year and am pleased with them. They are comfortable to ride and walk in. The only issue I've had, but this could be me, is that I have to wear them a little more loose than sneakers or my toes go numb after about 45 min. Not loose that they are flopping around but enough to slip in a finger with out to much trouble.
